The Organizing Committee of the 2016 Australian Coastal Councils Conference is inviting abstracts to be submitted for papers to be presented at the Conference, which is to be held from 4 to 6 May 2016 at Rockingham in Western Australia.

The Committee is seeking papers on coastal themes including but not limited to the following topics:

  • Coastal Planning and Management
  • Economic Development Strategies in Coastal Regions
  • Meeting the Needs of Coastal Communities
  • Tourism in Australia’s Coastal Regions
  • Coastal Policy.

Please note that in selecting papers for presentation priority will be given to papers that provide practical examples of how to address issues commonly faced by coastal councils.

About the Conference
The annual Conference is a highlight of the year for representatives of Australia’s coastal councils, policy makers, researchers and others with a stake in the future of the Australian coast and its communities. Each year it attracts delegates from coastal councils, research organisations, industry and policy makers from all Australian states.

Venue
The 2016 Australian Coastal Councils Conference is to be held at the Gary Holland Community Centre, 19 Kent Street, Rockingham.

Discounted registration fees for presenters
Presenters of accepted abstracts will need to register and pay to attend the conference. However discounted registration fees will be offered to presenters.

Abstract Guidelines
Abstracts of no more than 400 words of text (not including the requirements below) will be considered by the Organising Committee for inclusion in the Conference concurrent sessions and should include:

  • Family name of author
  • First name of author
  • Position of author
  • Organisation of author
  • Email address of author
  • Mobile number of author (not for publication)
  • The above information for other co-authors
  • Subject.

If appropriate, please also include:

  • Brief summary of the significance and implications of this subject to coastal Australia
  • References
  • Proposals for future research and/or actions.

Accepted abstracts will be published in the Conference Report.

Abstracts should be in Word format and emailed, marked to the attention of the Organizing Committee, to: info@coastalcouncils.org.au.
