The National Sea Change Taskforce Inc

The National Sea Change Taskforce Inc was established in 2004 as a national body to represent the interests of coastal councils and communities.

The role of the Taskforce is to provide support and guidance to coastal councils on a range of issues including rapid growth, coastal planning, funding and management of natural disasters, and projected climate change impacts.

Current methods of planning, funding and managing the increase in demand for infrastructure and services in coastal areas are inconsistent and inadequate.

The Taskforce promotes the adoption of a coordinated national approach to managing these issues that would involve a commitment by all three levels of government to work collaboratively to ensure that coastal development is managed with a focus on sustainability of coastal communities and the coastal environment.
